My and Jonathan traveled from Sweden to elope in Santa Barbara, California, choosing the stunning Demetria Estate as their location. Their day was simple and meaningful, with just the two of them exchanging private vows in front of the vineyards. They plan to have their legal ceremony back in Sweden, but this elopement was about creating a moment that felt true to them.
The team at Demetria Estate was kind and welcoming. My friend Camryn of Pics by Cam Jae captured the photography, and I filmed the videography for the day. We arrived early to scout the property, enjoy some wine tasting (which was incredible), and fly the drone to get a feel for the space. We spent the afternoon filming and photographing My and Jonathan running through the vineyards, exploring different parts of the property, and taking in the scenery. The estate’s rolling hills and biodynamic landscape made for a beautiful and peaceful backdrop.
To finish the day, we drove down to the coast and pulled off at a beach just in time for sunset. We captured them walking along the shore, with soft light and ocean waves creating the perfect ending to their California elopement. It was a relaxed and intentional day, and such an honor to document.
Demetria Estate & Vineyards
1.Choose a Location That Reflects You
Whether it's a vineyard in California, a beach in Bali, or a mountaintop in Colorado, pick a spot that feels meaningful. It doesn’t have to be big or traditional—it just needs to feel like you.
2.Keep It Intentional
With fewer moving parts than a traditional wedding, elopements are a great chance to focus on what matters most. Write your own vows, build in time to relax, and create space for real moments—not just photo ops.
3.Bring the Right Team
Choose vendors who make you feel comfortable and who understand your vision. A good photographer and videographer will help you feel at ease, and capture the story in a way that feels true to your day.
